Dr. Enrique R. Howard

As a native of Tallahassee, Dr. Howard is excited and humbled to serve the community as a healthcare provider. In 1993, Dr. Howard received his undergraduate degree in pharmacy from Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. While practicing pharmacy in Tallahassee, Dr. Howard obtained his Masters in Public Health from Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Institute of Public Health in 1999. Dr. Howard understands the challenges facing the underserved, the underinsured, and the health disparities prevalent within certain communities which includes the lack of access to dental care.
His interest in dentistry began at an early age. He remembers vividly his visits to the dentist and how intrigued he was by what the dentist did. His interest and desire for a hands on approach to health care lead Dr. Howard to the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics where he obtained his dental degree in 2015. His clinical training includes providing emergency and comprehensive treatment to the elderly, and for the mentally, physically, and medically complex patients over 18 years of age. He obtained hands-on clinical experience using a comprehensive care philosophy for geriatric residents in nursing homes and the homebound as a team member on the Geriatric Mobile Dental unit affiliated with the Geriatric and Special Needs Clinic, University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA. Dr. Howard has provided routine dental care, with an emphasis on prevention and education, to infants and children through his extramural rotation at The Dr. Rhys B. Jones Dental Health Center, Cedar Rapids, IA.
Dr. Howard is dedicated to life long learning and excellence with caring and compassion. Dr. Howard participates in continuing education courses for pharmacy and dentistry so that he can provide the best care possible to all of his patients. Dr. Howard believes in giving back. He has participated in many free dental clinics and outreach efforts.
Dr. Howard would like to invite you to make an appointment today to begin the journey toward improved oral health.

Teeth Cleaning

Food particles are naturally attracted to a tooth’s enamel by a certain protein. Products like coffee, tea, berries and soy sauce are notorious for staining teeth. Over time, teeth actually become more absorbent and vulnerable to staining from food and other substances. An intrinsic stain is caused by traumatic injuries, medications and fluorosis. It actually occurs inside the tooth; BRUSHING AND FLOSSING DON’T HELP. Extrinsic stains are more easily resolved by brushing, flossing and rinsing caused by external factors, such as, food and drinks. Some commercially available “whitening toothpastes” can be somewhat effective at removing stains and making teeth a few shades brighter. However, many of these products have abrasive substances that can actually wear away your tooth’s enamel.

Dentures are removable appliances that can replace missing teeth and help restore your smile. If you’ve lost all of your natural teeth, whether from gum disease, tooth decay or injury, replacing missing teeth will benefit your appearance and your health. That’s because dentures make it easier to eat and speak better than you could without teeth—things that people often take for granted.

Replacing missing teeth will help to improve your appearance and smile. Without support from the denture, facial muscles sag, making a person look older. Dentures can help you eat and speak more comfortably.

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns are typically used to restore a tooth’s function and appearance following a restorative procedure such as a root canal. When decay in a tooth has become so advanced that large portions of the tooth must be removed, crowns are often used to restore the tooth.

Before development of dental implants, dentures were the only alternative to replacing a missing tooth or teeth. Implants are anchored to the jawbone or metal framework on the bone and act as a foundation for an artificial tooth or permanent bridge. In some cases, implants can be used to attach dentures.

Arrangements and Payments – In order to provide the highest quality care that is also affordable, we have developed convenient payment options for you to choose from. Prior to the commencement of treatment, fees and financial arrangements will be discussed with you. These arrangements can be coordinated with your dental insurance benefits. We also accept Master Card, Visa, American Express and Discover Card.
Our goal is to help remove financial barriers so our patients can receive the dental care they need and desire. Prior to scheduling any treatment, we are happy to provide patients with an estimate of costs. Many patients have some type of dental insurance. In the majority of cases, we are able and pleased to assist you in maximizing these dental benefits. At your first visit, we will ask you for current insurance information. We may ask you to confirm this information at subsequent visits, so we can remain up-to-date and fully informed to serve you. Insured patients will receive cost estimates broken down by insured and uninsured costs. We ask that you pay uninsured costs the day services are rendered.

Once we have decided on a treatment plan and have worked out financial arrangements, we will do everything we can to proceed with your dental treatment on a schedule that works for you, whether you start as soon as possible or proceed at a slower pace, we want to accommodate you.

Our Dental Team is well versed in all areas of modern dentistry. We are committed to providing a full range of general and cosmetic dental options to help you achieve a cleaner, healthier, and more attractive smile.

If you want to look better, and feel better, we will help you by sharing our knowledge about current procedures using implants, veneers, tooth whitening, periodontal therapy, and many other preventive and cosmetic restorations. Then we will work with you to help select the form of treatment that will restore your oral health, and discuss the responsibilities you have for the daily care of your teeth.

Building relationships with our patients is a cornerstone of Dental Workz or Quincy. Getting to know you will help us to understand the best way we can meet your dental needs. What sets our office apart is the unparalleled level of expertise and artistry.
