As a native of Tallahassee, Dr. Howard is excited and humbled to serve the community as a healthcare provider. In 1993, Dr. Howard received his undergraduate degree in pharmacy from Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. While practicing pharmacy in Tallahassee, Dr. Howard obtained his Master’s in Public Health from Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Institute of Public Health in 1999. For 18 years, Dr. Howard served as a pharmacist with Publix, where he gained extensive experience caring for diverse patient populations and understanding the challenges facing the underserved, the underinsured, and the health disparities prevalent within certain communities, which include the lack of access to dental care.
His interest in dentistry began at an early age. He vividly remembers his visits to the dentist and how intrigued he was by what the dentist did. His interest and desire for a hands-on approach to healthcare led Dr. Howard to the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics, where he obtained his dental degree in 2015. His clinical training includes providing emergency and comprehensive treatment to the elderly, as well as to the mentally, physically, and medically complex patients over 18 years of age. He obtained hands-on clinical experience using a comprehensive care philosophy for geriatric residents in nursing homes and the homebound as a team member on the Geriatric Mobile Dental unit affiliated with the Geriatric and Special Needs Clinic, University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA.
Dr. Howard provided routine dental care, with an emphasis on prevention and education, through his extramural rotation at the Dr. Rhys B. Jones Dental Health Center in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Dedicated to lifelong learning and excellence, Dr. Howard approaches every patient with caring and compassion. He regularly participates in continuing education courses in both pharmacy and dentistry to ensure he provides the best possible care. Dr. Howard is also committed to giving back to the community through numerous free dental clinics and outreach efforts.
